Jochen Sachse can look back on over 30 years of experience as a professional audio engineer. He is the CEO of the HOFA GmbH. His work with national and international artists makes him and his studios one of the first addresses in Germany when it comes to professional recording, mixing or mastering. Artists and producers like Deborah Sasson, Jack White, Sidney Youngblood, Anita Burck, Pink Cream 69, Silverwood, Bernd Clüver, Yakari etc. trusted and trust his work. As a songwriter, producer and musician, he has won the German Rock and Pop Award. The album "Licht" of his studio project INI was awarded as the best German-language album of the year.
Jochen Weyer has been an audio engineer at the HOFA-Studios since 1994. He is a classical trained pianist and has recorded and mix hundreds of productions. He has played keys in several bands over the last 35 years and you can hear his sound design on countless records. Jochen Weyer passes on his many years of expertise in numerous workshops.
Adrian Clausing has a diploma in Musicdesign and worked for the microphone company Shure. At HOFA-College he works on mix analyses, customer support, workshops, course development and as a mixing and mastering engineer. He owns the label "Damaged" and is a DJ and music producer ("Mosqk"). The course is very comprehensive and challenging, and suitable for beginners as well as for advanced learners. The practice mixes are challenging and the tips and feedback from the tutors are helpful. I really enjoyed the course!
Toygun Kirali studied music and tonmeister studies and worked as a freelance tonmeister and instrumental teacher, as well as lecturer for room acoustics for several years. He is one of our product managers and the head of HOFA-Akustik. He works as a music director for various productions in different genres for Deutschlandradio, SWR, HR and BR with famous composers and musicians like Helmut Lachenmann, Thomas Quasthoff, Rebekka Bakken and Isabelle Faust. In 2014 he was awarded the "Golden Bobby" prize by the Verband Deutscher Tonmeister.
At this point I would like to congratulate you on the amazing HOFA-College. What you offer and how you implement it is great!
For me as an autodidact in the field of audio engineering and audio production, your courses are a great benefit. The material is presented in a very descriptive and comprehensible way, the exercises with the corresponding audio examples are eye-opening and the mix analyses cannot be outweighed with gold. Each submitted mix is dissected down to the smallest detail, evaluated honestly and objectively and you always get suggestions on how to improve your mix. In addition, there's the online campus and the workshops. The combination is what makes it so great!
I'm well prepared for my future work as a sound engineer in a theatre, as many relevant topics (e.g. the preparation of a production, miking of instruments, analytical listening, working with a console, room acoustics, etc.) are covered in great detail.
I can only advise anyone who is interested to take your courses. You really get better and you learn a lot on your way.
Many thanks for the enlightening journey through the topic of audio production and the many wow!-moments! I really had a lot of fun :)
Jan Bönisch completed his vocational training as a audio-visual media designer at HOFA in 2015. He then enrolled at Duale Hochschule Mannheim to study digital media (focused on media management and communications). At HOFA he's a marketing director and tutor for Film and Graphics and he's responsible for quality management.
I'm very satisfied with HOFA-College, you're doing a great job! The learning content is fantastic, I have never seen such competently written texts anywhere else! As a blind student I have to say that I think it's great how open you are to the topic and how hard you work to guarantee the accessibility of the materials!
[...] learning with you doesn't feel like school at all, but rather like an extension of knowledge and skills as an audio engineer and an exchange between beginners and professionals!
I would like to thank all tutors and other employees at HOFA-College and I'm looking forward to the contents in HOFA PRO!
Fabian Freitag completed his vocational training as an audio-visual media designer and works as audio engineer and tutor. He's gained a lot of experience at the HOFA-Studios, where he worked with artists like Freddy Sahin-Scholl (Supertalent Winner 2010) or the Rastrelli Cello Quartet. He plays the piano and trombone in various ensembles and produces his own music.
Composers are often confronted with the fact that budgets are being cut and productions need to be finished as fast as possible. For this, the producers often want to get perfect mixes at an early stage of the production. There's no time and money to go to the studio and mix the finished productions, let alone make countless corrections. So you inevitably become a one-man show. What now? Learning to mix myself seemed a bit bold to me, despite a lot of studio experience as a composer and musician. That's when I discovered HOFA. This was the best thing that could have happened to me!
The HOFA PRO course is a fantastic offer for all those who already have some basic knowledge and want to get their audio engineering know-how to a professional level - whether they do it for fun or because of professional reasons. In addition to the extremely detailed analyses of the practice mixes, the written material and tutorials on the online campus form a truly comprehensive course. But what I didn't expect was that I'd discover a passion for mixing and audio engineering. That was a real gift! The people at HOFA are increadibly nice as well!
All I can say is: thank you so much, it was great!
